The Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals is the largest appeals court in the United States, and maintaining its fairness and independence is crucial to protecting the health of our communities and the land, air, and water we enjoy.
The United States’ judicial branch is tasked with interpreting the laws of our nation, as passed by the legislative branch and enforced by the executive branch. Other than the Supreme Court, the highest courts in the land are the thirteen Courts of Appeals, which each cover a different region of the United States. The Ninth Circuit, covering most of the Western United States and nearly one-fifth of the nation’s population, is the frontline for environmental issues.
We must defend the Ninth Circuit so that it remains fair and independent, and not allow it to be taken over by partisan judges that value corporate polluters over people. That’s why we are spreading the word about the importance of this court, as well as what is at stake.
