Environmental Voter Profiles
Focus Groups & Message Survey
LCV Education Fund conducted Focus Groups in New Mexico, Washington, and Wisconsin, and a message survey across the Southwest states of Arizona, Nevada, and New Mexico during the summer of 2004.
The goal of the Focus Groups was to first test mail, literature, imagery, and metaphors to provide guidance for future LCV Education Fund communications, and secondly, to develop messages and a strategy for communicating with various groups of voters in the top percentages of our Environmental Voter Profiles Project lists.
The goal of the Message Survey was to explore the views of registered voters that the profiling process has identified as environmental activists, as well as those who rank lower on the environmental activist scale. We drew a sample of registered voters from the top ten percent of the Environmental Voter Profiles lists and compared them with registered voters in the middle and bottom of those lists to determine (1) what makes environmentally aware voters distinct and (2) how does LCV Education Fund best communicate with them.
